Collection: BAKUCHIOL
Babchi / Psoralea Corylifolia
Bakuchiol is a compound abundant in seeds and leaves of Psoralea Corylifolia. It has been a sensation in the past few years because, despite the structure difference, it has a remarkably similar gene expression profile to retinol. It is often called the cell-communicating ingredient because it tells skin cells to behave like normal, healthy cells.
Bakuchiol is the natural, gentler alternative to retinol and is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial. It has been reported to significantly improve lines and wrinkles, regenerate dead skin cells, reduce pigmentation and overall photo-damage, improve elasticity and firmness, and treat acne. Other than having more acceptable skin tolerability, Bakuchiol has several substantial advantages over retinol. First, its photostable nature means that Bakuchiol is not subject to change on exposure to light. Unlike retinol, Bakuchiol can be used during the day due to its photostability. Second, studies have shown that bakuchiol is pregnancy and breastfeeding friendly.
